The Battle of Honey Hill

The Battle of Honey Hill was fought on November 30, 1864, during the American Civil War. It was the third battle of Sherman's March to the Sea, although it did not involve his main force. It was headed by Maj. Gen. John Hatch and considered a failed expedition. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, and it is respectfully suggested that as this is a battle site all appropriate consideration must be taken. For an informative account of the battle, we recommend that you read Civil War Ghosts of South Carolina by Tally Johnson.

The area is reputedly haunted by audible phenomena that include gunfire and the screams of injured and dying soldiers.

It has been reportedly heard between November and January.
