Concord’s Colonial Inn’s original structure was built in 1716, and was used as a storehouse for arms and provisions during the Revolutionary War. When the British came to seize and destroy the supplies, the Minutemen met them at the North Bridge on April 19th 1775 for what became the first battle of the American Revolution. Every April the event is commemorated with a parade near the Inn and a ceremony at the North Bridge on Patriots’ Day.
Some believe the inn to be haunted by a grey, shadowy figure sighted at the side of a bed in Room 24. Whether this is the same as a figure in colonial period dress has yet to be determined. Other phenomena include books being thrown.
