Biograph Theater

The Biograph Theater was designed by architect Samuel N. Crowen in 1914, and served primarily as a movie theatre. However, this building and its location is intrinsically linked with one of America's most infamous criminals - John Dillinger.

On July 22, 1934, John Dillinger was shot dead outside the Biograph by FBI agents led by Melvin Purvis. The man known as Public Enemy #1 had been inside the theater that evening with his girlfriend, Anna Sage. As they exited into the alleyway, he was shot several times by FBI officers and died instantly.

Since that time, there have been numerous reports of paranormal activity. These include sightings of the appartion of a male in 1930's clothing running in the alleyway, who people claim is none other than Dillinger.

Inside the theater, the same apparition has been sighted. Others have reported sudden intense cold spots.

Eastland Disaster

The events of 24th July 1915 will forever be remembered in Chicago. On that fateful day, 845 men, women and children died in an unimaginable tragedy.

The SS Eastland was moored at the south bank dock between Clark and La Salle Streets. When passengers started boarding, the vessel began to keel over. The crew's attempts to stop this by adjusting the ballast tanks went badly wrong, causing the ship to capsize and leading to the worst single disaster in Chicago history.

Since that time, there have been numerous reports of paranormal activity in the area of the disaster. Visual phenomena include faces or bodies in the water, whereas the audible effects of the dreadful event have been reported.
