State Capitol Building

The Alabama State Capitol is located on Capitol Hill, originally Goat Hill, in Montgomery. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the First Confederate Capitol, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960. The first capitol building on the site was constructed in 1846, but burned down on December 14, 1849. The construction of the current building began in 1850.

The building is reputedly haunted by at least three ghosts. These include a "beautiful", yet faceless, blonde woman wearing clothing that dates from the Antebellum era. The sounds of a rustling dress have been reported, and this is often attributed to this female phantom.

The taps in one of the bathrooms are sometimes found running, and this is said to relate to a murder that occured here in 1912. On 31st October that year, Will Oakley shot P.A. Woods, and some believe that Oakley is returning to wash his blood-stained hands.
